When I first decided to start a travel blog, my intention was to keep friends and family updated on my misadventures. I wanted the people I love most in the world to be able to read about what I’d been up to and where I was going to be heading next.
Of course, I wanted a record for myself, too.
I left to travel full-time back in July 2011, and have shared every moment I’ve spent on the road right here. In particular, I’ve been publishing a series of “monthly summaries”, in which I write about where I’ve been and what I’ve been doing, as well as any highlights, lowlights, and mishaps.
These are some of my favourite posts to put together — and some of my readers’ favourites too — and I find myself diving back into my archives on a regular basis. I love to witness the evolution of my travel style, see how I felt when I took my first steps in a brand new country, and gain a glimpse into the hardships and struggles of a life on the road.
If you’ve ever wanted to follow along on my travels, from July 2011 until present day, here is the place to do so.
Below, you’ll find a list of every single monthly summary I’ve ever written, with just a handful of months missing (I skipped a few months when dealing with poor mental health and during the pandemic) — the blue tags share which countries I visited each month, in case you’re looking to read about my adventures in one particular country.
