I love street performers. I get ridiculously excited when I spot one and try to have my picture taken with them whenever I have the opportunity.
However, I’ve realised recently that for some reason I always seem to attract the weirdest of people… They must sense that we are kindred spirits due to the fact that whenever they see me they come over and try to dance with me, sing at me, seduce me… I even had a Charlie Chaplin style man threaten to whip me in a very violent manner!
My absolute favourite street performer I ever had the pleasure of meeting is Column Lady. I just don’t understand what could possibly possess someone to think dressing up as a column would be a good idea! Still, at least she has a hole to stick her hand through… Thumbs up!

This guy was even more peculiar! I assume the scene he is acting out implies that his head has been severed from his body and is on the table for dinner…? However, as soon as you walked round to the side of him you could see him knelt down behind this big cardboard box! I was disappointed that he didn’t even bother to put his head properly through the table… And where is the blood?!
Not the most masculine of outfits…!

It’s hard to be stylish when you don’t have a head. I like to assume that is why this particular man stole this flashy red suit straight from Elton John’s dumpster. The suit not only distracts from the certain head-less condition, it is also rather slimming! And of course, no headless pimp is complete without the white flip flop slippers!

I had no idea how he was able to float in the air!

One of my favourite photos ever! I loved this man, even though he yelled and threatened me when I forgot to pay him…

Spotted these men in Barcelona. Two policemen that spent all day sitting there riding their bikes. But not only that, they had crazy skeletons next to them cycling at the same speed!

One of the most talented street performers in London at the moment has to be this man! Standing motionless with the Tron soundtrack blaring out from his speakers, you have no idea what he is doing there (looking like a spy?). In actual fact what he does is create elaborate poses with members of the public to make it look like you are completely kicking his ass! Complete genius.

Is it just me? Am I the only person to experience these crazy people? Or are they everywhere?? Leave a comment and tell me about the craziest performers you’ve seen around!
What a great post. I love th flower guy and the floating genie. I think my fave street performers are on South Bank in London, or Covent Garden, but I say some really talents acrobats in Paris performing on the streets. Love your dress in the top photo, btw.
I love Covent Garden, I could spend hours wandering around watching everyone!
I can’t wait to see the pics of the people you encounter on your upcoming trip! I’m expecting some real gems!
Hahaha, I hope so! I do seem to somehow attract the strange ones…
These are hilarious! I like the James Bond looking dude and his over the top stunt theatrics! You should come to San Fran and check out some of the guys there!
Yeah, the man’s a genius with those poses! I’m going to London tomorrow so I’m gonna try and hunt him down to get my picture with him! :)
I KNOW! I don’t know how I find these people… hahaha :)
Wow!! I’ve never seen any street performer anything close to these guys. How amazing. So, what’s the trick with the floating genie?
I assume that there’s some kinda platform attached to his stick that he’s sat on!
They had some crazy street performers in Barcelona when I was there. In some citiess you walk by a few, but on the ramblas they where just lining up next to eachother. They are always fun to look at!
Yes, a lot of these were from Las Ramblas…I love that place!
These guys were creative, although a little bizarre! Are your friends Drew and Greg part of the matrix? haha
You need to check out the CungaMan in Philadelphia, PA. He plays at 12th & Filbert St. Outside of the Reading Terminal Market. His performance is ridiculously good. No costumes, just pure talent. His Cunga playing skills is unmatched, and his vocal ability is very unique. He covers Louis Armstrong to Sting, and everything in between; including Sam Cooke, and Johnny Cash. He does have a YouTube presence, but seeing him live is a much better experience. His name is Jeremiah Thompson, and he performs mostly on Friday & Saturday. He plays that Cunga for 2 to 5 hrs depending on the weather. 2:30 pm to 5:30pm mostly. Some days he is there from 10am to 4:30pm
that floating genie is really cool! :D
nice blog you’ve got, btw.
I love that last guy!! What a neat idea. I’ve never seen a street performer quite like that!
